About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how TrainWords, operated from Georgia (the country) ("TrainWords," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our vocabulary-learning service.

Information We Collect

• Account and sign-in information: Your email address and, when you use Google Sign-In, your Google account identifier, name, email address, and profile picture. TrainWords does not receive your Google password.
• Learning and practice information: Words you track or learn, repetition counts, time spent, practice submissions, typing activity, progress, streaks, and performance statistics.
• Profile and preference information: Your nickname, language, theme, time zone, leaderboard choices, and public-practice-history setting.
• Subscription information: Your plan, subscription status and dates, and identifiers associated with your Dodo Payments customer, checkout, payment, and subscription. We do not store your full payment-card details.
• Support information: Your email address and the subject, message, replies, and status of support requests you submit.
• Technical information: Essential cookie and session information, login timestamps, and limited device, network, or request information used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

Google User Data

If you choose Google Sign-In, TrainWords uses the basic profile information Google provides only to authenticate you, create and maintain your TrainWords account, display your profile, and provide the service. We do not use Google user data for advertising and do not sell it. Our access and use of Google user data is limited to the practices described in this policy.

How We Use Information

• Authenticate you and maintain your account and session
• Provide vocabulary learning, practice, progress, and leaderboard features
• Process subscriptions, confirm access, prevent fraud, and provide billing support
• Send sign-in links and important service or account messages
• Respond to support requests and resolve technical problems
• Protect TrainWords and its users from abuse, security threats, and unlawful activity
• Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations

Leaderboard and Public Information

When the leaderboard is enabled and you have qualifying learning activity, your display name or nickname, profile picture, and aggregated learning statistics may appear on the TrainWords leaderboard and public profile pages. Your detailed practice history is shown publicly only when you enable that option in Settings. Review your leaderboard and public-history choices before sharing information through these features.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising. We share information only as needed with:

• Google: To provide Google Sign-In when you choose it.
• Resend: To deliver passwordless sign-in links and service or support emails.
• MongoDB Atlas: To store account, learning, practice, subscription, and support information.
• Vercel: To host and deliver TrainWords and operate its server infrastructure.
• Dodo Payments: As merchant of record and payment provider for checkout, billing, taxes, fraud prevention, subscription management, refunds, and disputes. Dodo Payments processes payment information under its own Privacy Policy.
• Authorities or professional advisers: When reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or handle legal claims.

Cookies and Local Storage

TrainWords uses essential cookies for authentication, session management, security, and language preferences. Theme and similar interface preferences may be stored locally in your browser. We do not use advertising cookies.

Data Retention and Account Deletion

We keep account and learning information while your account is active or as needed to provide TrainWords. When you delete your account through Settings, your active TrainWords profile, word-learning records, and practice records are scheduled for deletion. Some authentication, support, transaction, fraud-prevention, tax, accounting, backup, or legal records may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary or required by law. Dodo Payments controls the retention of payment information it processes. You may contact us to request deletion or ask what information remains.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, or delete personal information. You can:

• Update profile and privacy choices on the Settings page
• Export available account and learning data from Settings
• Delete your TrainWords account from Settings
• Contact us to exercise a right that is not available directly in the app

Security and International Processing

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. TrainWords and its service providers may process information in countries other than the one where you live, subject to applicable legal safeguards.

Children's Privacy

TrainWords is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as TrainWords or legal requirements change. We will update the date below and provide additional notice when a change is significant.
